What Will Yacht Charter Vacations Look Like in Summer 2020?

The Ease of An Adventure At Home

While the current coronavirus travel restrictions may have us all anchored at home for the moment, there’s no reason we can’t remain optimistic for the months ahead and start envisioning what our summer 2020 yacht charter vacation plans could look like.

Although there is still some uncertainty surrounding the upcoming yachting season, one thing we know for sure is that it will be unlike any other. Where the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean were once the summer’s major drawcard, international travel restrictions could see US-based travelers exploring a little closer to home this year.

In light of this, New England’s luxury yacht charter business is well positioned to experience a potential boom in the coming months. There has already been a surge in the number of yachts announcing their intentions to call the region home for the season – and we currently have seven yachts available, ranging in size from 63’ up to 164’.

So, if you’re dreaming of setting sail on a luxury yacht charter this summer, 2020 could be a great year to rediscover the beauty of your own backyard and celebrate all the local yachting gems New England has to offer.

Enjoy the Ease of an Adventure at Home

It’s no secret that there are plenty of stunning yachting destinations this side of the Atlantic, but beautiful sights aside, there are also a number of other benefits to consider when planning your summer yacht charter vacation in the New England region.

Choosing to charter out of New England this summer will not only help to limit unnecessary travel by commercial airplane, but will also reduce your exposure to crowds and public spaces. As more private planes will likely be available for charter within the US, those with access to private aviation can enjoy the ease of landing at Quonset State Airport, located just 17 miles from the region’s main charter hub, Newport Marina. Those who live closer to the New York-to-Boston corridor can also safely drive directly to the marina without coming into contact with anyone outside of their immediate travel party.

Keeping your yacht charter plans within North America this summer will also grant you some added security and peace of mind. Should you need to cut your trip short due to unforeseen circumstances or health reasons, you will be much closer to the comforts of home and medical access.

A Safer Way to Travel

As social distancing measures are likely to remain in place for the foreseeable future, private yacht charters will certainly be one of the safest ways to travel during the months ahead.

All yachts are required to meet the highest standards of safety and hygiene, and all crew members are fully trained in professional cleaning and sanitization practices, so you can ensure the health of you and your loved ones is protected at all times during your charter.

With limited crew numbers and a spacious setting onboard, luxury yacht charters also allow you to easily maintain social distancing practices while on vacation. Yacht charters are exclusive by nature, which means you’ll have the freedom to travel to new destinations and embrace the experience without worrying about coming into contact with too many people along the way.

Out on the ocean, away from the bustle of onshore traffic and crowds, you and your travel companions can simply savour the serenity and safety of your very own floating 5-star resort.

An Unforgettable Summer in New England

With its rich cultural history, charming seaside villages, captivating coastlines and scenic cruising grounds, it’s easy to see why New England is considered one of the world’s best charter destinations.

Luxury yacht charter vacations in New England offer the ideal balance between adventure and relaxation. Charter guests can enjoy world-renowned events, activities and historical sights onshore, as well as idyllic and intimate harbors and coves along the coast, perfect for secluded anchoring. Although there are still lot of unknowns about the summer yachting season ahead, if things keep moving positively, US-based charters in charming New England could provide a safer, easier and much more accessible way to travel in the coming months.

Home to some of the most famous port destinations in the world, New England boasts an array of stunning stops to add to your charter itinerary. Experience the sights, sounds and flavors of this postcard-perfect yachting region with these destination highlights.

ASPEN ALTERNATIVE Summer Yacht Charter in Nova Scotia

2010/2016  |  Trinity  |  5 Staterooms  |  Charter from $195,000

This summer we invite you to pick a more remote holiday destination and discover in excess of 4,300 miles of unspoiled seacoast – home to whales, incredible seafood, rich cultural heritage and that Canadian icon, the moose aboard charter yacht ASPEN ALTERNATIVE in Nova Scotia & Newfoundland.

One of the four corners of the world, this area is heavily influenced by the sea and its maritime heritage. Rugged and wild – it teems with incredible wildlife, stunning natural landscapes, and picturesque fishing towns. It truly is one of the best places to see and appreciate nature in all its glory. While the living landscape is its own wonder, its inhabitants give the area a distinct character unlike you’ll find anywhere else. Living out on the edge of North America, isolated from much of the world, has created a culture that respects its history with the influences of English, Irish, French, and Indigenous ancestors. As a result, it has infused the area with a warm jovial character where the locals are known for their creativity, unique language, storytelling abilites, and of course food.

The adventures here are boundless. Depending on where your ASPEN ALTERNATIVE Nova Scotia yacht charter begins, below are some areas we think are a must see.

Halifax

Take in the bustling Harbour activity with stroll along the vibrant Halifax Waterfront home to bars, restaurants, shops, entertainment, and museums. Or visit the Halifax Citadel, originally built as a military fortification to protect the Empire from enemies (and the occasional pirate). Today the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site and its distinctive Clock Tower act as a reminder of Halifax’s rich past, right in the heart of the city.

Cape Breton

With 26 hiking trails, six magnificent beaches, 24 stunning look-off points, eight campgrounds, waterfalls, and world class golf at Highlands Links, Cape Breton Highlands National Park is an outdoor adventure hot-spot! The Cabot Trail, voted one of the world’s most scenic drives, offers jaw-dropping coastal views. But just as memorable are the stops along the way like famed hiking trails, picturesque villages and towns, artisanal shops and more

Lunenburg

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, wander Olde Town Lunenburg’s distinctive waterfront and brightly colored buildings. Listen for salty tales of seafaring and rum-running on its working waterfront while dining on world-famous lobster. Nova Scotia has some of the most fertile lobster fishing grounds on the planet.

Bay of Fundy

The Bay of Fundy is home to the world’s highest tides. It’s also home to 12 species of whales, tidal bore rafting, and unique coastal rock formations best viewed from a hiking trail, or from the water by kayak. Summer and fall are the best times to go whale watching in Nova Scotia.

Kejimkujik

Experience the unsurpassed beauty and natural wonder of the only Parks Canada site that is designated both a National Park and a National Historic site. Explore wilderness trails, lakes, and rivers by foot, by canoe, or by kayak.

Peggy’s Cove

Built in 1915, Peggy’s Point Lighthouse still keeps watch over surging ocean waves and working lobster boats. No beacon is as photographed or as well-known as the one in the vibrant fishing village of Peggy’s Cove.

Gros Morne National Park

It took 485 million years for Mother Nature to create Gros Morne National Park, a place unlike any other on earth. A UNESCO World Heritage Site covering 1,805 square kilometres, the park is a never-ending series of wonders and delights, and a demonstration of the spectacularly raw and enigmatic beauty of the physical world.

Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward Island is one of eastern Canada’s maritime provinces, off New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The large island is marked by red-sand beaches, lighthouses, and fertile farmland, and is renowned for seafood like lobster and mussels. Charlottetown, the capital, is home to Victorian government buildings & the modern Confederation Center of the Arts,.

A proven world class motor yacht, this 49.99m (164’) tri-deck accommodates 10 guests in five luxurious cabins including a full beam Master suite on the main deck with private study area. On the lower deck are 4 well-appointed cabins comprising 3 kings and a twin; all with showers en suite, plenty of storage space and state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment. Exceptionally luxurious and spacious, ASPEN ALTERNATIVE is equipped with Quantum Zero-Speed stabilizers ensuring blissful comfort whether at anchor, while under way with guests or crossing the ocean.

ASPEN ALTERNATIVE offers an array of features including a panoramic skylounge (one of the largest you will find on a yacht of her size) and an expansive sundeck with jacuzzi bar area that is perfect for relaxing with friends and family. The massive swimming platform and tender garage at the stern with two staircases leading to the main deck and a variety of water toys including wave runners, kayaks, wake board and towable toys ensuring every anchorage will be enjoyed to the fullest.

ASPEN ALTERNATIVE is available for yacht charter in Nova Scotia July thru Sept from $195k per week + expenses.
